What is Unjumble?
Unjumble is an Australian marketplace that pairs local businesses with local marketing freelancers. Post a gig, get bids from freelancers down the road (or across the country), and run the whole thing in one place. Brief, chat, stages, payment, review. Gigs, kept local.
How does Unjumble work?
Post a gig in 60 seconds. Local freelancers send you a bid with their quote. You pick the one that fits. The work runs on a payment schedule you both agree upfront, and every payment goes securely through Stripe: stage by stage as you sign off on an outcome-based gig, month by month on a time-based one. How does Unjumble make money?
Posting a gig is free, and businesses pay the price they agree with their freelancer, nothing on top. We take a connection fee from the freelancer: 20% on the first gig with a business, and it drops to 10% on every gig after that with the same business. We'd rather you find someone great and keep them. That's the model, there's nothing else in it.
Is Unjumble a hiring platform?
No. No recruitment, no contracts, no PAYG. Every engagement is a gig, either time-based or outcome-based. Need a designer for one job, not a whole new hire? That's exactly what Unjumble is for.
Does AI do the work?
No. People do. Unlike the Big Gig platforms, we're not using AI to replace freelancers. We use it to smooth out the friction nobody signed up for: filling out a portfolio, drafting a brief, the admin that sits between you and the work. And the freelancers themselves are often seriously good with AI inside their own craft, from SEO to graphic design. Strong domain knowledge is how you get the most out of it.
What does it cost to post a gig?
Nothing. Posting a gig is free. You pay the amount you agree with your freelancer, nothing on top. The money is held by Stripe and released to your freelancer as the work gets done: when you sign off each stage, or month by month on a time-based gig.
How do payments work?
Every payment runs securely through Stripe. On an outcome-based gig you fund each stage up front, the money is locked until you sign off the work, then it's released. On a time-based gig you're charged for each month as it starts, and it's released to your freelancer once that month's been worked. No invoices to chase, no paying for the lot before you've seen anything.
What if I'm not happy with the work?
On an outcome-based gig you sign off every stage before payment is released, so if something isn't right, push the stage back with your notes and work it through with your freelancer in chat. On a time-based gig each month's payment is held until that month's been worked, so raise anything early in chat. If a gig genuinely goes sideways, flag it and we'll step in.
How do I know freelancers are actually local?
Every freelancer connects an ABN and an Australian mobile before they can work on Unjumble, and their reviews come from completed Unjumble gigs, not imported ratings. Open any profile and you'll see the work, the Skills and who they've delivered for.

When do I get paid?
On an outcome-based gig, Stripe releases the funds when a stage is signed off, and the business has already funded that stage before you start. On a time-based gig, the business is charged for each month as it starts, and that month's released to you once it's been worked. Either way the money's there before you start. No chasing invoices, no 60-day terms.
